The National

The National has spent more than six decades tuned in to Memphis. Built in 1962 and later home to local television stations, this mid century landmark has been carefully restored and reimagined as one of the city's most distinctive new apartment communities. The original architecture still leads the programming, now joined by thoughtfully designed apartments, unexpected amenities and plenty of personality. Historic, modern and on a frequency all its own, The National is back on the air with an entirely new broadcast.

DESIGN
A woman in a white dress and high heels stands in front of a bench with a painting in the background.

The National came with the kind of materials and proportions that are difficult to replicate today. Understated and sophisticated, the original terrazzo, marble, expansive glass and distinctly mid-century details have been restored and brought forward, not covered up. The result is a building that feels unmistakably of its time and completely at home in ours .

THROUGH TIME

The National building and tower site at 2701 Union Avenue Extended holds a meaningful place in Memphis’s modern broadcast history. From the 1990s onward, the property housed major television operations and transmission infrastructure serving two of the city’s best‑known stations—Channel 24 and Channel 30—cementing the site’s identity as a working broadcast hub in the city’s media ecosystem.

Once built to broadcast across Memphis, The National is ready to welcome a new generation home. Its legacy of frequency, connection, and presence gives the building a character you can't recreate, offering residents more than a place to live. It’s a chance to become part of a Memphis landmark’s continuing story and find your own frequency within it.
